so why did they have to buy Cakewalk in the first place?
Eh...
I used SONAR only briefly before moving to REAPER, but it was nice and functional DAW.
This will not affect me, but I do feel for SONAR users.

Re: Fixing Drums
Also just bought Torque. It does something no other plugin I have, so I figured it's worth the price)) I'm waiting for it to download, which takes a loooooooooong time. Why do you need to download it again? I just updated the license. One thing I found is that there's no reason to even tune for it t...

Re: Fixing Drums
Of course that's assuming you're actually micing a kit. As I said I rarely in control of the recording. I would love to try 4-mic drum setup, however, I wonder how it works in the context of heavily distorted guitars. It is impossible to get the definition on the drums without boosting top-end and ...

Re: Fixing Drums
When I hate kick/snare tone in the OHs/Rooms (happens more with the OHs for some reason) I usually just forgo on using OHs/Rooms as "kit" mics and try to find frequencies which annoy me most and cut them. I may even high-pass OHs quite a lot (not doing that most of the time). At the most e...

Re: Fundamentals/ golden nuggets
I have avoided that and found that having an instrument hard panned gives a lot of space for fx like delay or stereo reverb or bleed in the case of live recording to work. I was surprised to hear stereo mixes of popular songs, very good mixes, in which the guitar was hard panned to one side and if ...

Re: Directional hearing
Ok, it reads kinda thusly: Basics If you apply EQ to sound emanated from a speaker in front of the listener in a certain way, it is possible that the sound appears to the listener from different virtual positions on the vertical plane, The graphic shows the (stochastic) relative frequency of spatia...

Do you have any Soundtoys plugins in your sessions? I've got a message from them urging me to upgrade to latest ilok manager, and I am hesitant to do so for now.

Directional hearing
Really nice example how directional hearing works in this hearing.
Also, shows why overEQing may produce whacky sounds which do not translate.

Re: Help me find a music video
I've seen it a couple of times on TV screen in a cafeteria, though the sound was muted and I didn't catch the title. The video is easy to recognize if you've seen it. It combines shots of people and scenery at different scales, e.g. in a landscape view there would be a giant human figure. The video...

Music in Russia or how music looks like when there is no revenue from sales
I think the look into the situation in Russia might be interesting. During Soviet period there was an established record industry with a single government corporation controlling the production and distribution. Parallel to that, there was a culture of cassette tape copies to get stuff which was not...

Re: Spotify Fake Artists
At least back during '80s bands (at least some bands) could have sustained living by touring and associated income (merch, direct album sales).
RHCP got their break after several releases and a lot of touring for a number of years.
