She helped trounce them. The SS's oldest tactic was to fund far left candidates who would then lose the primary and their supporters wouldn't show up to vote.

Judging by the arguments, he obviously must be a REAL centerist! Common sense is so rare in politics.

By the way, as someone who is on Medicare, it certainly isn't nearly as good as the healthcare in Canada!

They also win by pointing out that government corruption is the problem and that it doesn't need to be corrupt the way the SS party operates it.

Something too many liberals miss is that while Lamb would never propose the Bernie talking points, he would also not vote against them unless he was convinced most people in his district were opposed. He's a small donations guy who is opposed to the corporate-backed leaders of both parties. If he we...

The SS fascist party only cares about the ability of a given subject to divide people and distract from their corruption. Their 53 years of propaganda has converted around 30% of the public and disgusted another 30% to the point that they won't vote.

Re: Thoughts on monitors...

There's plenty of evidence that we have a few generations who are bored to tears with recorded music in general. It's all about people wanting to listen over and over. The way you do that is by being unabashedly yourself.

Re: Thoughts on monitors...

Every single choice should be on a musical level. I think our problem today is too many choices based on fashion or hero worship and not enough actual mastery of an instrument. Fingers have a greater effect on sound than any recording gear.

I disagree about fashion, i.e. poser-think.

The music just needs to "work" and connect emotionally with the listener.

Re: What happened to...

The political party of the rich (I'm calling them the Southern Strategy or SS party lately) has been preaching that government is the source of all problems for 45 years as America's middle class has all but disappeared. This has created a lot of very angry people. The SS party has also been pushing...

Re: Thoughts on monitors...

The main thing about monitors is that you don't ever want any dips or holes in the response because they can suck up detail in a transparent way that leads to rude awakenings elsewhere. Over the years I've come to seriously question the whole idea of "learning" monitors. It's ONLY about wh...

Re: Drum Recording Dissertation - Overheads And Phase Coherency

Interesting, that's closer than I was thinking. It looks more like how I used to place what I called my "overhead." I put a floor tom mike in the same place too for stereo. I did that on "I Just Want to Celebrate" shortly after I bought my 67s.

Re: Drum Recording Dissertation - Overheads And Phase Coherency

Hi and welcome back! 1. I've played with stereo overheads using two figure-8s but decided it didn't sound as good as one mono overhead. Around ten years ago I was speaking at a Tape Op convention in New Orleans. I checked out Russ Hogarth's drum workshop and saw him set up a front-of-kit mike in add...

One of the first lessons I was given when I started working in post was to compare two mixes for a music video. Re: just...eh?

The songs coming out of Nashville in the '50s were staggering so we saw that as our competition. The top songwriters were holding bidding wars between labels which resulted in the labels giving preference to singer-songwriters. This completely changed the industry placing less importance on the qual...

Re: just...eh?

People didn't think in terms of sounding like or not sounding like much. At Motown we were actually trying to not sound like Motown fearing it was a fad but it didn't work unless we used different musicians. More modern technology helped people sound more different but I doubt it helped much.
