Re: Ohms
Seriously? I guess I'll have to check it out... Last album I bought was Koi No Yokan. Got to meet them all at the grand opening of a Zia Records in Phoenix, or at least shake their hands and say hi. Chino liked my shirt! Hahaha That album definitely grew on me after a few listens, but I don't reall...

I'm Deftones fan since the 90s. The previous couple of albums were honestly a bit shallow. I was excited to hear they work again with Terry Data, and now the new record is released and WHOA

I'm mostly OK myself, but my mother passed away exactly two months ago due to the combined effects of recovering from liver surgery for cancer and a chronic heart condition. ...that helps to be a great mixer?
Bob Clearmountain, Andy Wallace, and, of course, weedy, are all bass players.

As you may know, you can access some of the threads of Thewombforums using archive.org.
Does anybody know how to set up a search there except manually going through all of the pages? Is it even possible? I want to find a particular thread, but no luck so far...

No, but they all sort of work as band names. But John would point out that "X" is already in use. Are you publishing a paper? Give me more details and I can come up with a good English title. If it's just for your reference, treat it like labeling a track; You're the only one who needs to...

I am not a native English speaker, so I do run into problems from time to time, and here's a thing I can't find a good way to express: There is a set of compounds, let's call it S. In this set there is a subset of compounds, let's call it X. There are two types of experiments. In one, the compounds ...

Just to narrow down on the culprit, can you install REAPER (simply download installation file and it starts a demo) and see whether it works with your plugins?

Re: Mixing multiple projects at the same time
But I'll also add: if a band has a production vision that can lead you to a better mix, then by all means let them do it. You just need to know if/when you will have to translate 'their terms' into actual mix decisions. Yes, the tricky part. I'm well underway on one project and it seems to proceed ...

Re: Mixing multiple projects at the same time
Yes, while it may be absurd, and of course I won't try to distort clarinet, but if I listen to something for a long time, it starts to sound "right" and I need some time to refresh my hearing. I have learned I need to take breaks every hour or so when working on something for this very re...

Trust me, you don't want my "help" Whoa, I have no idea what I was trying to say there :yowza: Probably edited something out and that's what I was left with  I guess this is kind of typical for bands that don't have big budgets to work with. No designated producer; the band mem...

Re: Mixing multiple projects at the same time
Thank you, nobby and weedywet for comments! So if one project is a band of 20-something year olds in a metal band and the other is a Lawrence Welk tribute band and the band members are in their mid 80s, are you afraid that you will walk into the metal session with a clarinet and tell them they've go...

Mixing multiple projects at the same time
In this day and age of instant recalls, mixing over the Internet and multiple revisions it is not uncommon to jump between projects. This is certainly not new to me, too. Though to have to start mixing two big projects at once is not something that had happened to me too often. Usually, I am working...

I actually know nothing about IR reverbs. I've never used them, and don't totally understand how it works. Is there a good resource for the really basic fundamental stuff? For an in-depth explanation look here http://www.dspguide.com/ch6/1.htm In simple terms the idea is this: Think about what a si...

Re: When A Band's References Don't Fit...
Actually, I learned that the band's ideas as awkward as what they may seem can be "right". And also you don't have to treat references literally, what they after can be an overall vibe, not the exact sound.
It's hard to get into their heads but that's what you have to do...

Re: They don't make music like they used to
I am not the defender of smashing the life out of music, but you asked to nitpick, no? So... I don't really get the metric. Why multiply by the number of years? This already will skew things in favor of older records. There is a hypothesis that the reduction of the dynamic range contributes t...
Re: CLAMixHub
OK, so I made a layout where I added all the EQ controls of a channelstrip I use to the track panel, and from that viewpoint, you saved me $69, as it worked quite nicely.
OTOH as an SSL channelstrip it is really nice, certainly better than the old model.
The Mic control is also interesting.

Here's 21 knobs and long-ass faders (27" Retina display though...) https://i.imgur.com/gppyE1a.png This looks nice. I have to experiment with layouts. I have a mixer window which is set up similarly, but the sends take some place as well. I use this as a controller. They're dirt cheap: https:/...

I guess the files are still there but there's no index page for them. I am not an expert on such things, but I have the impression that there are apps for browsing files on site like that.
